Deposits fall by Rs 28 billion in second week of this fiscal



KATHMANDU: Nepal Bankers’ Association (NBA) has unveiled an elaborate report on the trend of deposit and lending in the nation’s Commercial banks.

The new fiscal year began from July 17, 2022.

This is the data reported as of second week of current fiscal year.

The CD ratio till July 29 was 87.98%. However, the same ratio as of August 1 stood at 87.87%.

The total deposits in commercial banks has fallen by Rs 28 billion from July 24-30 to stand at Rs 4,450 billion.

From July 17-23 (first week of new fiscal), this figure had fallen by Rs 63 billion from the week before that.

In total Rs 4,343 billion worth of deposits are in local currency in commercials banks while the rest Rs 107 billion is in foreign currency.

Meanwhile, the total lending has also fallen by Rs 1 billion, and the total figure stood at Rs 4,164 billion.

Rs 4,133 billion worth of lending has been forwarded in local currency while Rs 31 billion is in foreign currency.
