Bamdev Gautam expelled from CPN Ekata Rastriya Abhiyan

CPN-Ekata Rastriya Abhiyan Coordinator Bamdev Gautam has been expelled from the party.

Leader Yubaraj Safal said a meeting of chairpersons of party-affiliated Samajwadi Kendra Nepal, Adhunik Nepal Samajwadi Party, CPN (Rastribadi) and Aam Nepali Party expelled Gautam from the party.

A meeting of the top leaders of the four parties held at a party palace in the capital on Saturday expelled Gautam and formed a secretariat committee under the coordination of leader Safal.

Coalition govt has kept construction of Nijgadh Int’l Airport at top priority: PM Deuba

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said the coalition government would move ahead keeping the construction of Nijgadh International Airport at top priority.

Prime Minister Deuba, who arrived here today along with top leaders of the ruling alliance partners to inspect the proposed international airport from Nepali Army chopper, mentioned that the construction of Nijgadh airport should not be delayed. He expressed commitment to start construction of airport with two-lane runway soon.

Saying Tarai-Madhes fast track and airport are the projects connected with each other, PM Deuba announced that construction of both projects would not be stopped.

Longtime communist Kumar Shrestha joins Kamal Thapa-led RPP-Nepal

 longtime communist contributing to the communist movement Kumar Shrestha has joined Kamal Thapa’s Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal (RPP-N).

RPP-N Chairperson Kamal Thapa welcomed Shrestha, a central member of the CPN (ML), and central member Bir Singh Tamang to the party at a program on Saturday.

COAS Sharma visits UN Headquarters

Chief of Army Staff of Nepal Prabhuram Sharma and members of the visiting delegation, who are on an official visit to the United States, visited the United Nations Headquarters on Friday.

According to the Military Public Relations and Information Directorate, Sharma met with high-ranking UN officials at the headquarters and discussed issues of mutual interest and reciprocity, as well as various aspects of the UN mission.

He met with Birame Diop, Military Adviser at the Office of Military Affairs, Jean-Pierre Lacroix, Deputy Secretary General of the Department of Peacekeeping Operations, Atul Khare, Deputy Secretary General of the Department of Operations Assistance, and Rosemary DiCarlo, Deputy Secretary General of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs.

Nepal sees 44 new coronavirus cases in past 24 hours

Nepal recorded a total of 44 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours as of Saturday.

Out of the confirmed cases, 34 were detected through the RT-PCR method and 11 through the Antigen method.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, a total of 2,467 swab samples were tested in the past 24 hours. Of them, 1,201 samples were tested through RT-PCR and 1,266 through the Antigen method.

Currently, there are 314 active cases in the country as 16 infected patients recovered in the past 24 hours.
