Coalition leaders announce to build international airport in Nijgadh



BARA: Top leaders of the ruling coalition have reached at the proposed international airport site in Nijgadh, Bara and promised to forward the construction plan ahead.

Coalition leaders Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, CPN-Unified Socialist Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal, Janata Samajbadi Party Chairman Upendra Yadav arrived in Nijgadh on Saturday for an on-site study of the proposed Nijgadh International Airport.

After inspection of the site they announced to build Nijgadh International Airport.

The top leaders of the coalition are joined by Finance Minister Janardan Sharma, Water Supply Minister Umakanta Chaudhary, Tourism Minister Jeevan Ram Shrestha are also at the site.

“Nepal needs another international airport, spacious and well-equipped and it’s a good place as well,” PM Deuba said after inspection.

Similarly, Janata Samajwadi Party Chairman Upendra Yadav said that the project should be constructed keeping in view the future.

He stressed on the need to move ahead with the project by protecting the old settlements in Nijgadh.

He said that everyone should cooperate in the construction of the project.

The top leaders are visiting the construction site for the first time since the Supreme Court ruled that the airport could be built by striking a balance between environment and infrastructure development.
