Some police hurt in clash with local people in Nepalgunj



NEPALGUNJ: Local people and police have clashed in Nepalgunj today.

The incident took place following a dispute over the installation of the statue of former King Birendra Shah at Dhambojhi Chowk in Nepalgunj, said the police.

Interference of the police in the matter fueled the incident, said local people. Some police have been hurt, said Chief District Officer Hari Prasad Sharma.

The police opened fire in the air in a bid to control the situation, he said, adding that now the situation has been under police control.

Details of the incident are yet to come by, it has been said.
