Newly appointed IGP duo Singh and Aryal conferred with insignias

The Ministry of Home Affairs has conferred insignias on the newly-appointed Inspector General of Nepal Police Dhiraj Pratap Singh and IGP of Armed Police Force (APF) Raju Aryal amidst a program on Monday morning.

Home Secretary Tek Narayan Pandey conferred the insignias on IGP duo Singh and Aryal at the Ministry of Home Affairs in Singha Durbar this morning, the Home Ministry said.

Disgruntled AIGs Pokharel and Thapa lodge writs against govt over IGP appointment

Two Additional Generals of Nepal Police have moved the Supreme Court (SC) challenging the government’s decision to appoint Dhiraj Pratap Singh as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) today.

Disgruntled AIG duo Bishwo Raj Pokharel and Sahakul Thapa lodged the writ petitions at the apex court demanding that the government’s decision to appoint Singh as IGP be scrapped.

Father and daughter killed in car-motorcycle collision

Two people have died in a car-motorcycle collision at Annapurna in the Kaski district.

The deceased have been identified as 45-year-old Jit Bahadur Pun and his 18-year-old daughter Sabina Pun.

Sabina died on the spot while her father died in the course of treatment at the hospital, said District Police Office, Kaski.

Id-ul-Fitr public holiday on Tuesday

KATHMANDU: The government has announced a public holiday for May 3, Tuesday, on the occasion of the Islamic festival of Id-ul-Fitr.

The Ministry of Home Affairs stated in a notice today that Tuesday, tomorrow, has been declared a public holiday in accordance with the provision published in the Nepal Gazettee on last March 10 of giving public holiday on Id, the festival of followers of Islam.

Foreign tourist arrival increases

As many as 58,348 foreign tourists arrived Nepal alone in April and the figure is 160 percent more than of the corresponding period last year, according to the Nepal Tourism Board.

Likewise, the country recorded the 52,633 exits during the period. The data shows that 22,450 people had visited the country in April 2021.

Gold traded at Rs 98,200 per tola today

The price of gold has decreased by Rs 800 per tola in the domestic market on Monday.

According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, the price of the hallmark gold was sold for Rs 98,200 per tola today.
