Election code of conduct strictly implemented in Parbat

PARBAT: The election code of conduct has been strictly implemented in the district following increasing cases of violation, according to the local administration. A meeting of the poll code of conduct monitoring committee took a decision to this effect.

This has followed complaints that some election candidates have carried out poll campaigns extravagantly, said the chief election officer, Balaram Tripathi. “Complaints orally about the violation of the poll code of conduct are pouring in. So we have decided to curb it by strictly implementing it.”

The candidates using vehicles and blowing their horns rampantly during poll campaigns have created sound pollution, thus effecting people, he said.

The district police office in a bid to discourage violation of the election code of conduct has launched an awareness campaign through a megaphone in the bazaar areas.

Violation of the election code of conduct is subject to punishment, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Shiva Raj Budhathoki.
