POKHARA: Nepali Congress (NC) senior leader Dr Shekhar Koirala said good governance, transparency and accountability was a must in democracy.
Speaking at a program in Pokhara today, Dr Koirala reiterated that good governance, transparency and accountability were fundamental conditions of democracy.
Noting that periodic election, democratic consolidation and economic development are inter-connected, he stressed the need to spur production along with financial good governance for prosperity.
The country’s purchasing capacity was not in a good condition now, he said, adding ballooning trade deficit of Rs 1800 billion was a serious issue.
Dr Koirala further said that running government and electoral alliance were completely different things.
He pointed out a need to make serious review on the issues, including impacts of electoral alliance on party organization in coming days.
