Gautam Buddha International Airport to start commercial flights from May 16



LUMBINI: Commercial flights will be operated at the Gautam Buddha International Airport in Lumbini from the day of Buddha Jayanti on May 16.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority, commercial flights will be conducted from the day of Buddha Jayanti as soon as Aero Thai completes a mechanical test flight (calibration flight) to certify the technical inspection of Gautam Buddha International Airport.

As soon as the calibration flight of Aero Thai is over, the Civil Aviation Authority has intensified its preparations for the test flight at the airport.

It has also stated that the test flight will be conducted by the wide-body aircraft of Nepal Airlines Corporation.

The Authority has prepared the airspace, route design and flight procedures to operate the flight from the airport and all the work will be completed before May 16, said Civil Aviation Authority’s Director-General Pradip Adhikari.
