UML Chairman Oli says deferral of local-level elections not acceptable

KATHMANDU: Chairperson of the CPN-UML, KP Oli, has said that the local-level election should be held by May 18 at any cost.

UML Chairman Oli said that the local-level election should be held on the date recommended by the Election Commission or else it would not be acceptable to the party.

He accused the government of focusing its attention on power grabbing rather than implementing the constitution and federalism as well as practicing democracy.

UML Chairman Oli also said that although the UML has drawn the attention of the government time and again to hold the election within mid-March as per the law and constitution, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has been turning its deaf ear toward it.

Chair Oli further said that it was serious negligence of the government to lose 2.4 million vaccines against coronavirus, arguing that it was unfortunate not to investigate the case.
