Explosives case: Smuggler was trying to take it in under the guise of rickshaw battery



JHAPA: The police are yet to ascertain who is behind the explosive brought to Nepal under the guise of e-rickshaw battery on Tuesday.

Armed police had seized a large quantity of explosives from near the Nepal-India border on Tuesday.

At around 9 am, a 22-year-old man wearing black pants had come to Gairigaun of Kakarbhitta carrying a bag.

According to police, a man asked an e-rickshaw to take the goods to a hotel and put the goods in the e-rickshaw and left.

Though police have been searching for the man, no arrests have been made so far.

According to Prem Bahadur Bhandari, Deputy Superintendent of Police, spokesperson of the 2nd Battalion of the Armed Police Force, the man from India talked to the e-rickshaw for transporting goods for Rs. 1,000.

The explosives were hidden in the grass. When the e-rickshaw driver came to get it, he found that the bag was light.

According to the police, the e-rickshaw puller had informed the Armed Police Force that there was a suspicious item in the bag.

According to DSP Bhandari, 80 bags of commercial detonators and 91 Napolites were recovered during the search.
