NEPALGUNJ: A thirty-five day in-service training for employees of Lumbini province government on ‘office operation and management’ concluded in Nepalgunj.
The Province Training Academy Nepalgunj, Banke that is also serving as the Provincial Centre for Good Governance (PCCG), imparted the in-service entry training in a physical mode.
Academy’s Executive Director Guru Prasad Sharma said that the training was organized to strengthen capacity of the assistant level public service employees, thereby improving public service delivery of subnational government.
He further said the academy are the pillars to leverage the implementation of federalism in Nepal by enhancing competencies of employees and elected representatives in the critical areas to deal with the problems.
Local government expert Prem Narayan Shrestha highlighted that this training will promote more ethical behavior and competitive performance of subnational governments in service delivery.
As many as 28 government officials serving in different offices of eight districts of Lumbini Province participated in the sixth slot of the training.
In the closing ceremony of the training conducted with the assistance of the Province and Local Government Support Programme (PLGSP), Sharma highlighted the role of the Academy in strengthening the capacity of the Province and local levels in the evolving federal context.
He cautioned the participants to be motivated in public service delivery in an accountable and responsive manner.
“I believe that this training has enhanced capacity of participants to cope with the practical problems in regard to both overall office management and effective public service delivery. However, we are planning to deliver such thematic training in coming days in a more effective way to address the specific needs of technical employees”, he noted.
Academy’s Curriculum Development Expert Bishnu Neupane shared that the training covered seventy-one different updated topics based on ten modules including office operation and capacity building, provincial office operation and management, financial operating systems, service delivery, and good governance and planning and development management, gender inclusion, bio-diversity, health and yoga and law, among others.
