KATHMANDU: The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case against 10 people, including the managing director of Krishi Samagri Company Limited, for importing substandard chemical fertilizer.
According to CIAA, a corruption case amounting Rs 1.53 billion has been filed against the officials of fertilizer importer Krishi Samagri Company Limited, quality tester Nepal Environmental and Scientific Service Private Limited, and supplier Joshi Biz House at the Special Court Sunday.
Krishi Samagri Company Limited is a government owned entity under the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development.
The case has been filed against Managing Director of Krishi Samagri Company Netra Bahadur Bhandari, manager Bishnu Pokhrel, assistant manager Durga Prasad Pandey, and deputy manager Pushkardeep Budha, among others, for importing low quality chemical fertilizer. They have been accused of falsely certifying substandard chemical fertilizer as standard one and disbursing payment for the same.
Likewise, Managing Director of fertilizer tester Nepal Environmental and Scientific Service Private Limited Salil Devkota, laboratory director Sunil Babu Khatri, senior surveyor Mahendra Kumar Daga and laboratory consultant Bholanath Chaudhary and Manoj Acharya, who signed the agreement on behalf of the Krishi company, have also been sued in the case.
Similarly, CIAA has also claimed 90 percent of the payment made for the substandard chemical fertilizer from Binit Joshi of supplier company Joshi Biz House in the graft case.
