RPP demands public holiday on Prithivi Jayanti

Submits memo to Prime Minister Deuba

KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has drawn the attention of the government to declaring Prithivi Jayanti as public holiday.

Prithivi Jayanti falls on January 11 in 2022 and is being marked every year as the day on which Nepal unifier Prithivi Narayan Shah began the unification campaign from Gorkha.

RPP Chairman Rajendra Lingden along with other party leaders reached Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba’s official residence in Baluwatar Sunday and submitted a memorandum in this regard.

According to RPP leader Mohan Shrestha, the RPP delegation demanded public holiday on January 11 on the day of Prithvi Jayanti. They also urged to celebrate Prithivi Jayanti as National Unity Day.
