Maoist Center reschedules election program

KATHMANDU: CPN-Maoist Center has rescheduled its election program for the selection of  central members in the ongoing 8th General Convention.

Issuing a notice on Sunday, Maoist Center’s Election Commission Chair Bishnu Pukar Shrestha informed all the delegates that the election program has been rescheduled.

According to the new schedule, candidature registration will take place from 4 pm to 6 pm today (Sunday). The list of candidates will be made public at 6.30 pm.

Similarly, the time for filing complaints against the candidates is set till 7.45 pm this evening and the list of candidates will be published at 8 pm. The candidates can withdraw their name by 8.30 pm.

However, the voting for the central election will be held on Monday from 8 am to 1:25 pm.

Election Commission Chairman Shrestha informed that stated that the counting of votes will take place immediately after the polling ends.

The Election Commission has revised the election schedule for the second time after the Maoist leaders started trying to reach a consensus.

The eighth general convention which started on December 26 is continuing at Pragya Bhawan in Kathmandu.
