EC to give election symbol to parties for NA elections on Jan 4

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) is scheduled to give the election symbol to the parties contesting the National Assembly (NA) elections on Tuesday.

The EC will publish the final list of candidates on January 4, according to the EC.

A total of 2,025 voters including 1,493 voters from the local level, 532 from the provincial level will vote in the National Assembly elections on January 26.

As many as 12 political parties have registered with the EC for the upcoming National Assembly election for the vacant seats on January 26.

There will be eight polling stations and 14 polling centers.

The election process for the NA elections started on Saturday.

The EC has already published the name list of the voters.

Complaints can be lodged against the published name-list, if any, informed Shaligram Sharma Paudel, the spokesperson of the EC.

According to the EC, political parties, including the Maoist Center, CPN-UML, Unified Socialist, Rastriya Janamorcha (RJM), Nepal Workers Peasants Party (NWPP), Nepal Democratic Party, Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) and the Aitihasik Prajatantrik Janata Party have filed their applications for the same.

Likewise, Loktantrik Samajwadi Party Nepal, Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Nepali Congress and Nepal Pariwar Dal have also registered their applications.

The EC has already appointed the District Judges of the respective districts as Election Officers in the same district.
