NEA makes a profit of eight Rs 8.5 billion rupees in three months



KATHMANDU: Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has made a profit of Rs 8.5 billion in the first three months of the current fiscal year 2079/080 BS.

According to the financial statement (unrevised) up to July, August and October of the current year, the authority has earned Rs 32 billion 98 crore rupees from electricity sales, interest and other income during this period.

In the first three months of the current year, the NEA earned a profit of Rs. 8.55 billion by spending Rs. 24.48 billion.

The NEA purchased electricity worth Rs 14.15 billion from the private sector during this period.

A net income of Rs 22 billion 20 million has been generated by selling electricity produced by its own power plants and purchased from the private sector within the country.

In the first three months of the current year, an income of Rs 6.17 billion has been generated by selling electricity which is more than consumed in the country in the competitive Indian market.
