Printing of FPTP ballot papers remains for seven districts only



KATHMANDU: Printing of ballot papers towards the first-past-the-post (FPTP) electoral system is awaited just for seven districts.

These districts include Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Bara, Dhanusha, Sarlahi and Rautahat.

According to the Election Commission (EC), around 8.4 million FPTP ballot papers are required in the above mentioned districts in view of the voting of the November 20 elections to the House of Representatives and Province Assembly.

The printing of ballot papers under the proportional representation has been already completed and the materials have been transported to 75 districts.

To date, the EC completes the printing of around 40 million of ballot papers under the PR system 31.05 million for the FPTP.

The EC said the first-round shipping of election materials to the all 77 districts has been carried out. Among them, Dolpa, Mugu, Jumla, Humla, Bajura, Gorkha, Manang and Sindhuli receive the complete package of the materials necessary for conducting the voting.

According to EC associate-spokesperson Surya Prasad Aryal, the transportation of remaining materials will take place in the second phase. It has so far transported 93 containers of election materials.

The second phase transportation will be made to those districts which have relatively more populace and more electoral constituencies.
