District Election Office intensifies voter education program

TANAHU: The District Election Office here has intensified preparation for running voter education programme in the wake of November 20 election to the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly.

The office will reach up to ward level and teach voters how they can vote. Chief at the office, Hari Prasad Dhakal, informed that there are many new voters.

They are casting votes for the first time. They would be instructed on the way they cast votes.

The voter education programme would be conducted to all 85 wards.

“Proper skills of stamping and folding ballot papers are necessary,” he said, adding that woman health workers would be mobilized for catering voter education.

The voter education will be conducted from November 4 to 17. After the local level election, the district has recorded 4,155 new voters.

They are casting votes for the first time on November 20. “In the local level election, voter education could not be held, resulting into high invalid votes. Once the voter education is catered effectively, the invalid votes will certainly decrease,” Dhakal reiterated.

Educational materials as pamphlet and posters will be distributed to the voters at their doorsteps.

The materials have already been dispatched to the respective wards.

The people will also be made aware of the value of voting and election. In the district, there are 48,495 voters.
