NRB preparing to bring monetary policy in first week of new fiscal

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) is preparing to bring the monetary policy of the coming Fiscal Year 2022/23 within the third week of July.

Speaking at the inaugural function of Banknote Sorting and Briquetting System at Nepal Rastra Bank Pokhara Regional Office on Friday, Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari said that preparations are underway to bring monetary policy within the third week of July (first week of Shrawn).

National Assembly passes two bills

A meeting of the National Assembly on Friday endorsed the ‘Drug (third amendment) Bill, 2079 BS’ and the ‘Bill relating to security of health workers and health institutions’.

The bills were passed with the meeting unanimously accepting the proposal to that end tabled by Minister for Health and Population, Bhawani Prasad Khapung.

Valley reports three more cases of cholera

Three more cases of cholera have been confirmed in the Kathmandu Valley.

According to the bulletin issued by the Ministry of Health and Population, with this, the total cases of cholera that is caused by bacteria named vibrio cholerae have reached 17 in the Valley.

Of them, 12 are males and five are females, said Ministry joint-spokesperson Dr Samir Kumar Adhikari.

EC registers ex-journo Lamichhane’s Rastriya Swotantra Party

The Rastriya Swotantra Party led by former journalist Ravi Lamichhane has been registered with the Election Commission.

Lamichhane had announced the formation of the party on June 21.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Lamichhane said that his party was registered with the Election Commission with the name Rastriya Swotantra Party. He added the party’s election symbol was bell inside a circle.

Rajesh Hamal meets Prachanda at Khumaltar

Actor Rajesh Hamal on Friday held talks with Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” at the latter’s residence, Khumaltar.

Actor Chetan Sapkota, who also participated in the meeting, said that the duo discussed current issues, including the political developments in the 20-minute conversation.
