PM Deuba assures KMC Mayor Shah of government’s all-out support
Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has assured the newly-elected Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC), Balen Shah, that the government would extend all possible support to him to accomplish his commitments as a Mayor.
PM Deuba said this at a meeting between the two held at the Prime Minister’s official residence, Baluwatar today.
“In fact, you did a miracle. I appreciate your energy,” PM Deuba told Mayor Shah.
Income tax limit likely to incur a loss of over Rs 20 billion
Twenty billion rupees is likely to be lost in the current income tax owing to the income tax limit proposed by the government in the fiscal budget 2079/80.
Ritesh Kumar Shakya, the director general of the Inland Revenue Department, said that the existing provision of the Inland Revenue Department is estimated to slash the revenue by Rs 20 to 25 billion.
Only 1 percent tax will be levied on the person earning up to Rs 600,000 annually from the next Fiscal Year, according to the proposed fiscal budget.
Govt slashes infrastructure tax on diesel and petrol by Rs 10
The government has reduced the infrastructure tax on diesel and petrol.
According to a source at the Ministry of Finance, it has decided to reduce the infrastructure tax on diesel and petrol by Rs 10 per liter.
Maoist Center facing an identity crisis: Prachanda
Chairman of Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” has acknowledged that the Maoist Center is confronted with an identity crisis of late.
On a serious note, he said that the party is currently facing a full-blown crisis of identity, and that the Maoist party will have to face an uphill task to once again popularize its agenda.
“The latest result of the local-level election is evident that we are losing our identity of a patriotic party,” Prachanda told the newly-elected representatives of his party in Kathmandu, Wednesday.
Government issues Land Use Regulations; land classified into 10 zones
The government has issued the Land Use Regulations, dividing land into 10 zones being based on its features.
Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Shashi Shrestha issued the Regulations and informed about the classification of land.
Land has been categorized as agricultural zone, residential zone, commercial zone, industrial zone, area of mines and minerals, forest zone, public use zone, area of cultural and archeological importance, and others being based on topographic features, efficiency and utility of land, its existing use and necessity.
86 rape convicts held in Jhapa in last 10 months
Police have arrested 86 convicts found guilty in 106 incidents of rape in Jhapa in the last 10 months.
According to the data of the District Police Office, Jhapa, rape attempt received the highest number of complaints (72) in the district during the period.
