EC warns of action against anyone publishing poll-related fake info on social media



KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has warned of action against those publishing false information, propaganda and content that are against the poll code of conduct on social media during the local elections.

Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, EC Spokesperson Shaligram Sharma Poudel said strict action would be taken against those who posted election-related fake content on social media.

He clarified that action would be taken according to the prevailing law if any content or materials are published on social media against the election code of conduct.

Spokesperson Poudel said those misusing social media during the election would face the music according to the Election Commission Act 2073.
