Ghode Jatra marked in Valley
Ghode Jatra, also known as Horse procession, was observed in the Kathmandu Valley today (Friday).
The government had given a public holiday on the occasion within the Valley.
A special program was held at the Army Pavilion in which a Nepal Army cavalry team performed different equestrian stunts. President Bidya Devi Bhandari graced the event as the chief guest.
PM Deuba embarks on a three-day official visit to India
Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has left for New Delhi on a three-day official visit to southern neighbor India, at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The 50-member delegation led by Prime Minister Deuba left for New Delhi via a 1:25 pm regular flight of Nepal Airlines Corporation.
Indian Minister of State for Tourism Ajay Bhatt welcomed the 50-member delegation led by Prime Minister Deuba in New Delhi.
Prime Minister Deuba calls on BJP President JP Nadda, Indian EAM Jaishankar
Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba visited the central office of the Indian ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and held a brief meeting with BJP President JP Nadda.
He also met Indian External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar at the ITC Maurya Hotel, where he is staying, in New Delhi.
UML Chair Oli accuses NC of killing patriots by facilitating Indian Army infiltration into Nepal
CPN-UML Chairperson KP Oli has accused the then Nepali Congress (NC) of killing patriots by facilitating Indian Army infiltration into Nepal.
Addressing a program held by UML student wing All Nepal National Free Students’ Union (ANNFSU) in Kathmandu, he claimed that the then NC government had blood of martyrs, including Bhim Dutta Pant, on its hand.
He said, “The NC had beheaded patriots by summoning the Indian Army. It is bitter to hear such truth, but the NC did this. Nothing can be done about it as the NC is like that,” adding, “The NC always partners with outdated and ill elements. It always unites with anti-nationalistic and anti-democratic forces. The NC has always been such, be it in past or in present. Such is NC’s trait.”
Home Minister Khand takes charge as acting Prime Minister
Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand became the acting Prime Minister of Nepal after Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba left for India on a three-day visit.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari, on the recommendation of Prime Minister Deuba, designated Home Minister Khand as the acting Prime Minister in Deuba’s absence.
Chitwan district administration urges people to submit licensed weapons
In view of the May 13 local election, the district administration office, Chitwan urged general people to submit their licensed weapons to local administration by April 13 .
The move aimed to hold the poll in a peaceful, free, reliable and credible way, said Chief District Officer Aashman Tamang through a notice.
Spring expedition: 22 groups granted permission
With the onset of spring season, aspiring mountaineers have already begun obtaining permission and are all set to go for their expeditions.
The Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation informed that 22 expedition groups were granted permission as of March 31.
So far, five groups have received permission for the highest mountain in the world- Sagarmatha (Mt Everest) expedition while four have obtained permission for Mt Annapurna.
Bird flu detected in eight places of Chitwan
Bird flu has been spotted in eight different places of Chitwan district.
It was detected intermittently in different areas since the past couple of days.
Police arrest five fake medical science students in Kathmandu
The police have arrested five allegedly fake candidates in medical examinations.
According to SSP Basanta Kunwar, the crime branch of the metropolitan police nabbed the fake examinees attending medical science exam.
Everyone should abide by party’s decisions: NC leader Singh
Nepali Congress (NC) leader Prakash Man Singh said that everyone should abide by the party’s decision.
Speaking at a program in New Baneshwor, he said those who opposed party’s decision would fare better if they left the party.
Referring to those leaders and cadres opposing electoral alliance and favoring the NC contesting the polls alone, he said those who want to weaken the NC by staying inside the party would be better off by leaving the party.
Veep Khadka designated acting NC President
Nepali Congress Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka has received the responsibility of acting president of the party.
Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, who is also NC President, has designated Khadka as the acting President of the party in accordance with Article 25 (13) of amended NC statute, 2017.
