UML Chair Oli accuses NC of killing patriots by facilitating Indian Army infiltration into Nepal

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairperson KP Oli has accused the then Nepali Congress (NC) of killing patriots by facilitating Indian Army infiltration into Nepal.

Addressing a program held by UML student wing All Nepal National Free Students’ Union (ANNFSU) in Kathmandu on Friday, he claimed that the then NC government had blood of martyrs, including Bhim Dutta Pant, on its hand.

Stating that BP Koirala used excessive force and ordered firing shots to repress the student movement while he was the Home Minister, the main opposition leader accused the NC of using foreign forces to kill nationalists in the country.

He said, “The NC had beheaded patriots by summoning the Indian Army. It is bitter to hear such truth, but the NC did this. Nothing can be done about it as the NC is like that,” adding, “The NC always partners with outdated and ill elements. It always unites with anti-nationalistic and anti-democratic forces. The NC has always been such, be it in past or in present. Such is NC’s trait.”

Criticizing the role of NC leaders, including BP Koirala, the UML chair said the student movement had induced mass awakening.

Referring to the existing coalition of the NC and Maoist Center, among others, Oli accused the NC of collaborating with anti-democratic forces even now.

Stating that the legacy of the student movement was with the ANNFSU, he said the onus was on the UML student wing to raise public awareness.

Talking about the history of the student movement, Oli alleged that the NC always worked with the enemy and the opposition forces to suppress the student movement. During his speech, Oli accused the NC of killing students by inviting the Indian Army to Nepal.
