Investment board approves cement project worth Rs. 14.27 billion



KATHMANDU: The Investment Board has approved an investment of Rs. 14.27 billion for the construction and operation of Suryatara Cement Project.

The 50th meeting of the board chaired by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, also the chairman of the Investment Board, apprived the investment for the Suryatara Cement Industry to be established in Panchpurami of Surkhet.

The meeting also agreed to set up a chemical fertilizer factory at Bardaghat in Nawalparasi and decided to issue a license to DIAG Industries GmbH Germany for a detailed feasibility study.

Similarly, the meeting approved the detailed project report regarding the Lower Arun Hydropower Project.

The board also instructed to study the issue of extension of financial management of Upper Karnali Hydropower Project and submit a report on the basis of the report submitted by the committee formed under the National Planning Commission (NPC) Vice Chairman.

Friday’s meeting formed two separate study committees under the NPC Vice Chairman to submit a report to the ward after conducting a detailed study on the development and investment structure of Nijgadh International Airport project and free energy sales and purchase of surplus energy from Arun III Hydropower Project.

The meeting approved the concept paper of design build finance operate maintain (DBFOM) model related to the establishment and maintenance of investment board fund. It directed the Investment Board office to make necessary legal and institutional arrangements in this regard.
