Pokharel elected as NC Sindhuli district president



SINDHULI: Leader Upendra Pokharel has been elected as the president of Sindhuli District Working Committee of Nepali Congress (NC).

Pokharel defeated outgoing president Ujjwal Baral in the second phase of elections held on Monday to become the NC district president of Sindhuli.

The election went for the second phase after none of the five candidates who contested the elections in the first phase secured 50 percent of votes.

Pokharel obtained 885 votes out of the 1,371 votes cast in the second phase of elections. His closest rival secured 477 votes while nine votes were declared invalid.

Elected Pokharel had started his political career from the Nepal Student Union.

He had also worked as a member in the Nepal Tarun Dal before getting elected as the president of NC Sindhuli district working committee.
