Mahashivaratri being observed across country today

Devotees throng Pashupati since early morning



KATHMANDU: Mahashivaratri is being observed across the country by worshipping Lord Shiva today.

Hindu devotees throng Shiva temples and perform a special pooja in reverence for Lord Shiva.

Devotees have gathered up at Pashupati Temple in Kathmandu since early morning today. All the four major entrances have been kept open in view of devotees since 4 am on the occasion of Mahashivaratri today.

Sadhus from various parts of Nepal and India have arrived at Pashupatinath Temple. Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) does provide money and alms to them.

Devotees throng various shivalayas on the day of Mahashivaratri which falls on the day of Krishna Chaturdashi. The Shiva pooja is being performed at various Shiva temples including Haleshi and Devghat to pay homage to Lord Shiva.

The PADT has said that a special arrangement has been made so that over 800,000 devotees could visit Pashupatinath temple.

In previous years, over 1 million devotes had visited Pashupatinath Tempe on the day of Mahashivaratri, according to the PADT.
