Food Management and Trading Company reluctant to pay tax



KATHMANDU: The Food Management and Trading Company Limited has built physical structures along the Tukuchakhola in the Capital City breaching the government code but not paid the land and house tax to the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC).

Chairman of KMC-11 Hirralal Tandukar said the Company has not paid land and house tax for leasing seven ropanis land of Plot No. 2395.

The Company had issued a public notice some five years ago to rent the land and 20 plus companies had applied for the tender bidding. Of them, the Funland Entertainment Pvt Ltd was awarded the contract on April 20, 2017 to lease the land at Rs 1.05 million per month for the highest bidding, Company’s Information Officer Sarmila Neupane Subedi said. The Company has not paid the tax despite renting the house.

Tandukar said that the Chief Executive Officer and other officials of the Company were asked to pay the tax prior to selling the land plot to the Metropolitan Police Range. “But, they settled the issue without paying taxes. However, the ward office has received Rs 600,000 in tax for recommendation of the road access,” Tandukar said.
