Maoist Center electing new leadership once statute draft endorsed

KATHMANDU: The closed session under the Eighth General Convention of the CPN (Maoist Centre) has started at Nepal Academy in Kamaladi, Kathmandu.

Standing Committee member Dev Gurung is addressing issues raised on the party’s statute draft in the closed-door session scheduled for 11:00 am. The issue of leadership selection will begin once the the statute draft is endorsed, it is learnt.

As proposed, the Maoist Centre would select 15-office bearers and 299 central committee members.

Chairman of the Maoist Centre’s Election Committee Bishnu Pukar Shrestha said that the election process of the party leadership will advance only after the approval of the statute draft.

The CPN-Maoist Center’s ongoing eighth general convention on Friday endorsed the ideological and political report of Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.

The closed-door session passed the report after Chair Prachanda responded to the issues raised on the report.
