Parliament will ratify MCC at any cost: Home Minister Khand

POKHARA: Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand has claimed that the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) will be passed by the parliament.

He said that the parliament will have to endorse it as it was proposed by the government of Nepal.

“Let’s be very clear that the MCC is not a military project. It is for the physical development of Nepal. The project is for hydropower transmission and road expansion,” he said.

Minister Khand further said, “We don’t have to pay for it, it’s a grant. Nepalis should make good use of it. So it has to move forward.”

Home Minister Khand also expressed the confidence that all political parties represented in the parliament will forge consensus to ratify the MCC.

Meanwhile, he also claimed that the elections at all levels will be held within the stipulated date.

“All elections will be held within the stipulated time,” Home Minister Khand said adding that the government will provide peace and security for the same.

He, however, did not specify the time and date.
