Health Ministry urges to be cautious in using electric heater, geyser

KATHMANDU: In view of various fatal incidents taking place especially during the cold, the Ministry of Health and Population has appealed to people to be cautious in using electric equipment like heaters and geyser to warm themselves.

It has urged all not to burn coals, keep materials that catch fire away and ventilate their rooms while using these equipment for warmth.

Similarly, some cautions like dousing fire completely, turning off the heater from time to time and before going to bed should be followed.

The main machine of the geyser should be fitted outside and one should not stay longer inside a bathroom while a geyser on.

On Thursday, four members of a single family at a quarter in Nepalgunj were suffocated to death.

They were asleep by burning coals to heat their room, said the police.
