Cash prize for EPL winner increased to Rs. 5 million

KATHMANDU: Everest Premier League (EPL) has increased the cash prize to be provided to the winners of the forthcoming league.

According to the organizers, the winner of the competition, which will take place in September, will receive the cash prize of Rs 5 million. Similarly, the runner-up will receive cash prize of Rs 1.5 million.

Earlier, the competition’s winner received the cash prize of Rs 2.1 million in 2017. It had been raised to Rs 2.5 million by the organizers. The prize money, however, has been doubled this time.

The event was initially scheduled for December 2019, before being postponed multiple times.

According to a press release from the organizers, the winner will receive Rs 5 million this time, while the runner-up will receive Rs 1.5 million.

This is the largest sum ever awarded to the winner of any competition in Nepali cricket.

The competition to be held from September 25 to October 9 will feature six teams this year.
