Rotary Club of Kasthamandap honors State Minister Shrestha



KATHMANDU: Rotary Club of Kasthamandap has honored newly elected Minister of State for Health and Population Umesh Shrestha on Friday.

Speaking at the felicitation ceremony, Minister of State Shrestha said that procurement and management of vaccines was a high priority and work was underway to give results soon. “My priority is to manage the procurement of vaccines,” said Shrestha.

“Now, we are purchasing 11 million doses of vaccines soon,” said Shrestha, adding, “800,000 doses of vaccines are arriving immediately. The government has 700,000 doses of vaccines in stock and arrangements have been made to administer the same vaccines.”

He further said that the government has a plan to buy 55 million doses of vaccine for all Nepalis above 12 years of age.

So far, a total of 9.7 million vaccines have been received in Nepal from China, India and the United States.

Now more vaccines are coming from China, Japan and India, said Shrestha.
