Cyber Bureau alerts of crime through electronic media



KATHMANDU: The Cyber ​​Bureau of Nepal Police has urged all to be vigilant saying that crime has increased through electronic media.

Issuing a press statement on Sunday, Bureau’s spokesperson SSP Navind Aryal requested all to remain alert and stay safe from such crimes.

According to the bureau, some criminal groups are actively working to blackmail or loot the people differently.

“The group has been found sending friend requests to various social media users and calling them through Messenger, WhatsApp, Viber, Emo etc. inciting the users for immoral conversations or obscene activities which the groups use for blackmailing afterwards,” SSP Aryal said in the statement, adding, “They use such video or audio recording to ask for money.”

He said that the number of threats and repeated demands for money is on the rise.

SSP Aryal appealed all social media users to be aware of such activities and to avoid falling prey to criminal individuals and groups.
