NC records 500,000 active memberships digitally

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) has digitally recorded almost 500,000 active memberships into its database until Tuesday targeting the 14th general convention of the party.

Unlike in the previous years when the records of memberships used to be kept in a notebook, the NC is now recording the active memberships digitally ahead of the upcoming general convention.

According to Ananda Dhungana, a member of central active membership probe committee, the digital recording of active memberships is taking place from 65 districts, currently.

“The digital recording of active memberships is taking place from 65 districts. Almost 500,000 active memberships were recorded digitally as of Tuesday. Some districts have yet to send the list of memberships while the integration is yet to be concluded in some districts,” said Dhungana.

Earlier, the number of active memberships was 470,000. It has planned to double the number of active memberships and is initiating works accordingly.

The NC had planned to renew and distribute new memberships by March 23 but failed to do so which is likely to hit the scheduled date of the general convention. A central committee meeting has been called for April 2 to deal with the issue.
