Parties preparing for upcoming election under disguise of national conventions: Maoist Chair Prachanda

KATHMANDU: Chairman of the CPN-Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said political parties are holding national conventions as part of preparations for the upcoming general election.

Addressing a condolence program held for the party’s former Rupendehi in-charge Ram Prasad Banjade, in Butwal Tuesday, Prachanda said that the country was heading towards elections and the Maoist Center was also preparing for it.

He viewed that the upcoming election should be credible, accessible to all and free from rigging.

“Mutual understanding and cooperation between the parties is essential to make the election fair and free of rigging,” the Maoist chair said.

Stating that the country had marched towards socialism, he stressed co-operation among the parties for national prosperity.

Remembering late leader Banjade as always being loyal and adopting a simple lifestyle, Prachanda advised party cadres to take lessons from the late leader’s dispositions.
