Leader Shakya receives highest number of votes as UML vice-chairperson

KATHMANDU: Asta Laxmi Shakya has secured the highest number of votes for the post of CPN-UML vice-chairperson, as per unofficial results. Out of 2,096 votes cast, Shakya got 1,976 votes.

Similarly, Surendra Pandey got 1,925 votes, Subash Chandra Nembang got 1,865 votes, Bishnu Poudel got 1,856 votes, Yuvraj Gyawali got 1,842 votes and Ram Bahadur Thapa got 1,768 votes.

Meanwhile, Ghanshyam Bhusal, a rebel candidate for the vice-chair’s post, got 725 votes only and lost the election.

The UML has provisioned for six vice-chairpersons.

However, the UML Election Committee is yet to officially announce the results.
