RPP leaders Thapa and Lingden to vie for party chair

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Kamal Thapa and General Secretary Rajendra Lingden are vying for the post of party chair in the upcoming general convention of the party.

Thapa announced his candidacy for the post on Monday while Linden had announced his candidature on November 25 itself.

Speaking at a function held at a hotel in Kathmandu held recently, Linden said that he was fielding his candidature to protect the party according to the sentiments of the party’s leaders, cadres and well-wishers.

“Time has sought change now. In the 31-year history of RPP, it has been a total failure,” he said.

RPP leader Dhawal Shumsher, a leader who is also the mayor of Nepalgunj sub-metropolis, is supporting Lingden. Lingden is also backed by Dr Prakash Chandra Lohani.

RPP Chairpersons Pashupati Shamsher Rana and Dr. Lohani have decided not to contest for the post this time.

The RPP General Convention is being organized in Kathmandu on December 1 to 3.
