NC leader Karki elected Udayapur district president



UDAYAPUR: Himal Karki has been elected as the president of Nepali Congress Udayapur district.

Karki defeated his closest rival Bidur Basnet by 178 votes. Karki obtained 767 votes while rival Basnet secured 589 votes.
Newly elected Karki is also the Minister for Infrastructure Development of Pradesh 1.

The establishment side has won all the seats except two members in the NC Udayapur District Working Committee. Karki is considered close to Deuba group while Basnet is from Paudel faction.

Bhim Chandra Rai and Bal Bahadur Tamang have been elected as vice presidents. Murari Khadka has won the post of secretary while Chandradeep Poudel and Tikaram Budhathoki have been elected  as deputy secretaries.
