All-party meet called by PM Deuba begins at Baluwatar

UML boycotts meeting



KATHMANDU: An all-party meeting called by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has started at Baluwatar.

The all-party meeting has been convened to discuss and put an end to the ongoing obstruction by the CPN-UML in the federal parliament.

UML, however, is not participating in all the party meeting.

Disgruntled UML has been creating obstructions in the parliament saying that it would keep obstructing the parliament meeting unless the parliament approves the action taken by the UML against 14 lawmakers.

According to the PM’s Secretariat, the issue of parliament obstruction will be discussed at the all-party meeting.

Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Deuba, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, from Nepali Congress, Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and leader Narayankaji Shrestha from CPN (Maoist Centre), General-Secretary Beduram Bhusal and leader Rajendra Pandey from and CPN (Unified Socialist), Mahanta Thakur and Rajendra Mahato from Democratic Socialist Party, Rajendra Shrestha from Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal, Prem Suwal from Nepal Workers and Peasants Party and Durga Poudel from Rastriya Janamorcha, among others are attending the meeting, shared Personal Secretary of PM’s Parliamentary Party, Keshav Raj Joshi.

Discussion on contemporary political issues including impasse in the operation of parliament would be held in the meeting.

The UML spilt after Madhav Kumar Nepal faction of the party recently registered CPN (Unified Socialist) party.
