I will not hold any executive post: Leader Khanal

KATHMANDU: Senior leader of the CPN Unified Socialist Jhala Nath Khanal has said that he will no longer hold any executive post.

Khanal, who returned home on Monday after receiving medical treatment in India, told so to the media at the airport. Leader Khanal said he was over 70 years old and would not hold any executive post. He said, “Since I am 70 years old, I do not claim any executive post.”

He also said that he would spend the rest of his life in building the party. Leader Khanal added it was not necessary to shed crocodile tears for the collapse of the communist government.

Khanal said, “I had a heavy heart when I left. At that time, I called for unity. Meanwhile, the communist-led government was toppled. But there is no need to shed crocodile tears for it.”

Leader Khanal returned home on Monday after undergoing a kidney transplant at the Apollo Hospital in Delhi. Leaders, including Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal, had reached Tribhuvan International Airport to welcome Khanal.

He had left for New Delhi on June 16 for medical treatment.
