Speaker Sapkota showed guerrilla style: Mahesh Basnet

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML leader and lawmaker Mahesh Basnet has accused Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota of not taking action against 14 defecting lawmakers despite the party’s recommended action against them and alleged that he still followed the guerrilla strategy.

Speaking in an interaction program organized by Rafat Sanchar Club, in Bhaktapur on Monday, Basnet said that the Speaker made a mockery of the Nepali Parliament and executed the duty as if he was doing so under the Maoist’s erstwhile ‘people’s government’ days.

He remarked that the government’s failure to assign Ministries and complete the cabinet indicated the inefficiency the ruling alliance.

Lawmaker added that the last resort to come out from the prevalent crisis and indecisiveness is to form a national consensus government and hold elections at all three levels at the same time in a cost-effective manner.
