Lumbini CM Pokhrel criticized for cold response to Province Chief Sherchan

BUTWAL: Lumbini Province Chief Minister Shankar Pokhrel has become a subject of criticism in social media after his government boycotted a welcome program organized to felicitate Province Chief Amik Sherchan.

A staunch supporter of former Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli, Pokhrel did not feel the obligation to show in the program organized to welcome new Province Chief Sherchan in an office few meters off his office.

Neither CM Pokhrel nor his Ministers nor the representatives of the CM’s office bothered to attend the program organized.

Although Pokhrel’s officials said they did not get formal information about the program, Chiranjivi Poudel, the Secretary at the Province Chief’s Office informed that CM’s Office was informed on time.

Former Province Chief Dharma Nath Yadav had drawn himself to controversy by swearing CM Pokhrel to office despite the opposition’s request to verify the support.

CM Pokhrel, had seen off former Chief Yadav amidst a grand ceremony though.

In place of Yadav, the government has appointed former Chief of Gandaki Province sacked by PM Oli, Amik Sherchan as new chief.

He was sworn in on Thursday and resumed to province chief’s office on Friday.
