Deuba govt has no excuses for mistakes like Oli-govt: NC lawmaker Thapa

KATHMANDU: Ruling Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker, Gagan Kumar Thapa, has said that the current government led by the party has no excuse to make mistakes like the previous government led by CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli.

Speaking at a program organized by Ramechhap’s Khanda Devi Municipality committee of BP Koirala Foundation in Kathmandu on Friday, NC youth leader Thapa urged the current government led by party president Sher Bahadur Deuba not to make any mistakes anywhere.

“This government will not get any ‘excuses’. Gone are the days when KP Oli said he did but didn’t do it. Now it is to make the needy citizens realize what the government should be like,” he said in the program, adding, “The Oli-led government made the mockery of the constitution and rule of law, the incumbent government should restore and revive the legal provisions treated as void by then government.”

Lawmaker Thapa stated that it’s everyone’s duty to make this government.

He also urged the leadership not to postpone the forthcoming general convention of the party.

“The date of the party’s general convention cannot be changed much. Our constitution says that the date of the party’s general convention can be extended by six months after five years,” Thapa said, adding, “A democratic party like the NC cannot violate the provisions of the constitution.”

Stating that there was no provision for the office-bearers or former office bearers to resolve the party’s active membership dispute, Leader Thapa urged the party leadership to abide by the Constitution and the party constitution.
