Hearing on HoR dissolution postponed till Tuesday

KATHMANDU: The Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court (SC) carrying out the hearing on the writ petitions related to the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) has postponed the hearing till Tuesday.

According to sources, citing the ongoing debate related to the formation of Constitutional Bench, the SC has decided to postpone the hearing until Monday.

As on Friday, most of the advocates speaking on behalf of the writ petitioners questioned the formation the Constitutional Bench and objected to the presence of justices Bam Kumar Shrestha and Tej Bahadur KC Sunday as well.

Eleven lawyers, including eight, on behalf of the writ petitioners and three on behalf of the government, took part in the debate on Sunday.

However, Attorney General Ramesh Badal defended the Bench formation saying it was the jurisdiction of the Chief Justice and even warned to take action against the advocates raising concern on the formation of Bench.
