KATHMANDU: Chairman of ruling CPN-UML KP Oli has called a Standing Committee meeting at 5 pm on Sunday.

The meeting to be held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar will discuss current political issues.

Office Secretary Sher Bahadur Tamang said that the meeting would review the current political situation and take further decisions.

It may be noted that a previous UML Standing Committee meeting had sought clarification from 12 lawmakers who had gone against the decision of the party.

However, they have not furnished their clarification yet. Sources have said that the meeting is likely to expel 12 lawmakers for failing to furnish clarification within the deadline.

Prior to this, the UML had expelled 11 leaders including Madhav Nepal, Jhala Nath Khanal, and Bhim Rawal from the party.
