With cyclone ‘Yaas’ still active, MFD predicts rainfall

KATHMANDU: As the impact of cyclone ‘Yaas’ continues, the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) has forecast rainfall in some parts of the country, Sunday.

According to MFD, the cyclone ‘Yaas’ is gradually weakening while surging towards India’s northwest region.

However, the low-pressure system created while making landfall has resulted in generally fully cloudy weather causing moderate rainfall amidst thunderstorms.

The Division has said the weather will remain partly to generally cloudy throughout the country with possibilities of light, moderate to heavy rain.

Likewise, thunder and lightning are also possible at a few places of the country, it said.

Meanwhile, the MFD has cautioned people stating that heavy rainfall is likely to occur in Pradesh 2, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini Pradesh, Sunday.

The rainfall in the last three days has caused landslides in various districts of Gandaki Pradesh.

The water level in rivulets and rivers has increased due to the incessant rains posing risk to the people living near the banks of the rivers.
