Efforts underway to forge alliance to topple government: NC President Deuba

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that they are still working to forge an alliance among the political parties sans the CPN-UML to form a new government.

Saying that the NC has decided to seek an alternative to the KP Oli-led government and form a government under its leadership, NC President Deuba, however, said they have not been able to form a majority.

Speaking to journalists at his residence in Budanilakantha on Friday, Deuba said efforts were underway to convince other parties to form a new government.

Asked whether NC would file a no-confidence motion against the Oli-led government, Deuba said they are still trying to forge an alliance towards that end.

“We will do that as soon as we have a majority,” Deuba said.
