Security officials of Nepal, China hold talks at Miteri Bridge amid COVID-19



KATHMANDU: Representatives of Nepal and China governments have discussed the latest situation of COVID-19 in Nepal at a time when the second wave of the pandemic is taking toll across the world.

The security personnel and administrative officials of both the countries held a meeting at Miteri Bridge connecting Nepal and China on Thursday.

Clad in personal protective equipment (PPE), the team from Nepal side was led by Chief District Officer of Rasuwa Ishwari Prasad Dhakal. CDO Dhakal was accompanied by Chief of District Police Office, Rasuwa Debendra Pandey and the representatives from National Investigation Department and the Armed Police Force (APF).

Similarly, SSP Hao Juhai, chief of Kerung Immigration Administration Police and DSP Iyang Chang represented in the meeting from the China side.

The meeting dwelled on the cross-border movements including border issues and the steps taken by the Nepal government to curb COVID-19.

CDO Dhakal said China side expressed worry over the increasing cases of COVID-19.

Nepali authorities also apprised the China side of the steps taken by the Nepal government and the present situation of the COVID-19.

“The meeting between the authorities of the two countries focused on the COVID-19 pandemic,” said CDO Dhakal, adding, “The China side expressed readiness to assist the Nepal government in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.”
