KATHMANDU: The Indian Army has gifted one lakh doses of COVID-19 vaccines to the Nepal Army (NA) at a program organized at the Nepal Army Headquarters in Tudikhel on Tuesday.
The vaccines produced in India was provided to the NA under the Government of India’s ‘Vaccine Friendly’ program.
Indian Ambassador to Nepal Vinay Mohan Kwatra handed over the vaccines to the Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Purnachandra Thapa today.
Indian Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Mukund Narwane participated in the vaccine handover ceremony via video conference. He said there was a sign of brotherhood between the two countries’ armies.
On the occasion, CoAS General Purnachandra Thapa thanked the Indian Army and the Government of India for the gift. The vaccine was brought to Tribhuvan International Airport on March 29, 2021, by an Air India flight.
The Indian Army has been assisting the NA since last year in various ways, including remediation, X-ray machine, radiography equipment, ICU ventilator, video endoscopy unit, anesthesia machine, lab equipment and ambulance to fight the Kovid-19 epidemic.
