Hearing-impaired man killed in tusker attack



KATHMANDU: A man has been killed in a wild elephant attack in Miklajung rural municipality in Morang district.

According to Area Police Office, Urlabari, a 49-year-old Yam Bahadur Bohara died after the wild tusker attacked him at Thamijhoda in rural municipality-6 at 10 pm on Monday.

“Bohara, who is both hearing and speech-impaired, came under attack of the elephant when he was returning home from the house of Man Bahadur Magar, a local,” said Police Sub Inspector Kundan Dev.

He was returning home with his wife Sabitra Karki after a watching television program from Magar’s house.

Karki managed to save her life by fleeing to safety, but her husband was killed as he could not run away.

Locals said they chased away the elephant following the incident.
